Libre might not be as powerful (yet) as KiCad, but I'd say in terms of a very easy to use way to make simple boards, it's already good enough to replace Fritzing. I hear some love it though.Įagle is still the most popular for hobbyists it seems, but it's also limited to small board sizes, and parts creation isn't as nice as LibrePCB that has dependancies and reuse between libraries. There's also KiCad, which I've tried but didn't like enough to bother actually learning. There's a new project called LibrePCB which is already much more usable for PCB creation, and is similarly completely free and open. It was too notch for making very basic educational circuits with the standard library, but that's about it. That, plus the small parts selection made it not really that nice even as a toy program. Using a Stripboard (from the video channel) Working with SMD parts (from the video channel) Creating Paper Templates (from the Blog) Curvy Wires and bendable Legs (from. I think even towards the end you still had to use Inkscape. Make sure to check out our YouTube tutorial channel, including the Fritzing Killer Tips and Learning Arduino with the Fritzing Starter Kit. The problem with Fritzing was the parts creation process was fairly bad and awful. The time for this will vary depending on the speed of your internet connection.
